MORE than a freedom campaign: A community-driven movement dedicated to bringing Jermaine Ferguson home
while uplifting, restoring, inspiring healing through unity and lasting change from the community he's from and beyond.
Our mission is to unite communities in the pursuit of justice for Jermaine Ferguson by transforming pain into purpose through truth, accountability, advocacy, education, and compassion. We believe Jermaine’s freedom is about more than correcting a wrongful injustice—it is about restoring a mentor, leader, and servant whose wisdom, lived experience, and commitment to others can help transform lives.
His freedom is not just about bringing one man home; it is about empowering him to continue helping others find their own path to freedom—whether from incarceration, violence, hopelessness, or cycles of trauma.
Through his mentorship and leadership, we envision stronger communities, restored families, and lasting change for future generations.
Jermaine “Flaimz” Ferguson is more than an incarcerated man—he is a mentor, leader, advocate, artist, and a source of hope for those around him. Born and raised in South Minneapolis, Jermaine has dedicated himself to personal growth, faith, accountability, and helping others transform their lives despite spending more than two decades behind prison walls.
Through his leadership, mentorship, and unwavering resilience, Jermaine has become a positive influence within the Minnesota Department of Corrections and beyond. His story is one of perseverance, purpose, and the belief that no person should be defined solely by the worst chapter of their life—or by an unjust conviction.
Jermaine Ferguson has spent more than 21 years in prison.
Twenty-one years of missed birthdays.
Twenty-one years of missed holidays.
Twenty-one years his family can never get back.
Jermaine was convicted in Hennepin County in 2005. His supporters contend that his conviction was secured despite the absence of physical evidence placing him at the scene.
According to the campaign, there is:
No DNA linking Jermaine to the scene.
No weapon recovered from him.
No fingerprints placing him inside the apartment.
No surviving victim identifying him.
No lineup identification.
The prosecution’s case relied heavily on testimony from cooperating codefendants and witnesses who received plea agreements in exchange for their cooperation.
Today, one of the key witnesses whose testimony placed Jermaine at the scene has since recanted. Supporters argue that this development raises serious questions about the reliability of the conviction and deserves careful judicial review.
JusticeForUs Ferguson is not asking for special treatment. We are asking for what every person deserves: a full and fair opportunity for the courts to examine credible new evidence under oath.
Justice is not weakened by review. It is strengthened by it.
Despite incarceration, Jermaine has chosen purpose over despair. As a mentor and leader within the Earned Living Unit (ELU) at MCF Stillwater, he invests his time encouraging accountability, personal growth, conflict resolution, and leadership among incarcerated men preparing for successful reentry.
His work demonstrates that rehabilitation is not simply a concept—it is a daily commitment. Jermaine believes that true freedom begins long before release, and he strives each day to help others break free from cycles of violence, hopelessness, and self-destruction. His impact reaches far beyond prison walls through the lives he continues to influence.
Jermaine and his friend from the inside, Brandon, wrote "It Just Works" about inside the ELU.

"What if everything we believe about prison is wrong?
For decades, correctional systems in the United States have been defined by one expectation: survival. Violence, instability, and tension have long been accepted as unavoidable realities of incarceration — not because they work, but because they’ve always existed.
But inside one of Minnesota’s most historic correctional facilities, something unexpected is happening."
